Accessibility
whodo wants everyone to be able to order, book, pay and run their business: with a keyboard, a screen reader, a small phone or bigger text. We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What's done
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page (press Tab).
- The main tasks work with a keyboard, and you can see where the focus is.
- Fields have labels; errors are said in words (not only in colour) and read out by screen readers.
- You can zoom in on every page (zoom is never blocked on phones), and pages work on a 390-pixel-wide phone without sideways scrolling.
- A light and a dark theme, with their contrast checked.
- Every page in English and French, with the language set for screen readers.
- The main pages are checked automatically (axe-core) at phone width with every release.
What isn't yet
- Maps (addresses, routes): the same details are also given in text, but the map itself can't be used with a keyboard.
- Photos businesses add don't always have a description.
- Printed documents (labels, posters) follow the printer's layout.
Tell us about a problem
Something in your way? Tell us: in the menu, choose Something's not right (a conversation with whodo opens in your Messages), or email [email protected]. Say which page, what you were trying to do and, if you like, what you use (a screen reader, zoom…). We'll answer, and fix it.
